Master Carver Series
The Teal is the smallest dabbling duck in the Americas with an average length of 14”, and an average weight of .65 lbs.  The drake has a cinnamon colored head with an iridescent green/purple patch traveling from its eyes to the nape of its neck.  On the other hand the hen is mottled brown with a darker line that travels from their beak through its eyes.  The teal is naturally a rapid and agile flyer, which can often be found in boreal forest, grasslands, sedge meadows, and deciduous parklands.
The Green-Winged Teal is the second most commonly hunted duck in North America just behind the Mallard.  The beauty of both the male and female Green-Winged Teal in motion can be captured through the gorgeous sculpture “Busting Out”- Green-Winged Teal Wall Mount.  This attractive wall mount is part of our Master Carver Series where Master Carver Sam Nottleman has taken his knowledge and experience of carving waterfowl and captured the excitement of the Green-Winged Teal flushing from its cover.  This exceptional sculpture is a must have for any Sam Nottleman Collector

The Wild Turkey is truly one of today’s finest conservation success stories. Once nearly vanished from the wild, the Eastern Wild Turkey's population has been brought back to a safe level due in part to concerned sportsmen and women along with contribution of millions of dollars and hours of free labor.  This particular sculpture was hand-crafted and painted by Sam and Lilly Nottleman.  As part of the Master Carver series this work of art displays the talent and attention to detail used by the Nottlemans!

When Europeans first arrived to this continent Bald Eagles were abundant but as the human population increased along with agricultures use of DDT the nations Bald Eagle population started to plummet. In 1967 Bald Eagles were officially put on the endangered species list in all areas of the United States. With the banning of DDT and work of untold number of volunteers our National Symbol has fought its way back and was removed from the Endangered Species List in 1995. This beautiful bird not only represents overcoming adversity, it also represents Patriotism and the Freedom America stands for.
As the first piece in our Master Carver Series, this sculpture was an incredible project for Sam and Lilly Nottleman who spent over 600 hours researching, carving, and painting the original.  Named in honor of the pilots and crew of the Columbia space shuttle “Columbia-Freedoms Symbol” it was also carved to commemorate the grand opening of the new National Eagle Center in Wabasha, MN.

A portion of each sale goes directly to the National Eagle Center in support of their mission to further protect our National Bird!

FLYING WATERFOWL WALL MOUNTS
The black duck is similar in size and resembles the female mallard in color.  You can find this beautiful waterfowl dabbling in shallow waters feeding on plant material and small aquatic freshwater animals, mollusks, and crustaceans.  During the fall and winter the black duck tends to flock in groups of their own reaching sizes in the thousands to start the pairing formations.
This large dabbling duck is depicted in the dazzling sculpture “Winging Through”. In this jaw dropping work of art the Black Duck is seen soaring past a piece of drift wood with is vivid blue secondary feathers dominating its brown mass.

The most familiar and widespread goose in North America Gulf Coast Manitoba Kentucky.  It was nearly extinct in the early 1900s.  Programs to reestablish the subspecies to it original range were tremendously successful and once again today each spring and fall we are delighted to the sight and sounds of wild geese as they migrate.   to .  At least 11 subspecies of Canada Goose have been recognized, although only a couple are distinctive.  In general, the geese get smaller as you move northward, and darker as you go westward.  Features an easy to use wall hanging hook on the rear of the sculpture.

This large, flashy, diving duck is known for its characteristic chestnut red head, black breast, and light grey back, which make it stand out from the other colorful waterfowl.  The canvasback requires considerable amounts of food to supports their migration and feeding habits.  This diver is known to plunge as deep as 11 meters deep in hunt for its next meal.  The canvasback is a special waterfowl because they are less common than most other ducks, which makes it a prize shot for any hunter.

Once the most abundant duck in North America the Northern Pintails population has declined since the 1950’s due to persistent drought and the loss of Grasslands.  Nicknamed “The Greyhound of the Air”, because of their elongated central tail feathers, which constitute for one quarter of the drakes body length, describes the unique features of this waterfowl.  But don’t go buying any round trip bus passes for this dandy as it only weighs on average of 2lbs, and is wide spread throughout North America.

FLYING UPLAND BIRD WALL MOUNTS
The Common Pheasant is one of the world’s most hunted birds and is considered the most premier upland game bird in the United States.  As history tells us it was a popular past time of royalty in Great Britain to hunt pheasants.  These gorgeous upland birds are short distance flyers, but while they prefer to run, they have the capability to burst upward with great speed if they are startled.

A medium-sized grouse, Ruffed Grouse, Bonasa umbellus, is found in forests in the North and Northeastern United States, down into the Appalachian Mountains and across Canada to Alaska.  Grouse are non-migratory upland birds and are commonly found in either a gray or brown color phase.  Male and female plumage is almost identical, males will usually have a solid or unbroken dark subterminal tail band and multipule white spots on their rump feathers versus females with a often broken tail band and single rump feather spots.  The Ruffed Grouse courtship display is not only visual but very audible.  Male Grouse select a fallin log on which to stand while they rapidly beat their wings causing a “Drumming” sound.  From a distance it sounds like someone starting a small tractor.  Grouse are ground nesters with clutches typically having 6 to 8 eggs and their natural population cycle runs 10 to 12 years between population highs and lows.  The cause for this population phenomenon is unknown.
Features an easy to use wall hanging hook on the rear of the sculpture.

The Woodcock is a small upland bird that favors moist woodlands, which are accessible to streams and swampy landscapes.  Often referred to as Timberdoodle, Woody, or the Bog Snipe, the Woodcock is a migratory bird that ranges across much of the Eastern half of the United States and Canada.  This shy bird is very well camouflaged and difficult to spot on the forest ground when drilling for worms. The most distinct characteristic of the Woodcock is it’s long, thin, flexible bill which is perfect for probing moist soil for their favorite foods.  The nighttime courtship display is another unique part of the Timberdoodle’s lore.  The male Woodcock selects an open area in a meadow or forest opening for his curios little back and forth swaying dance and twirling display flights.
