- Some artists have the uncanny ability to capture the very essence of
light and air as elements touch and interact with even the simplest forms.
Joe Begley, a resident of Evansville, Indiana, has this talent and has
honed it to an exceptionally fine level of art, through his oil paintings.
His paintings virtually breathe the life he has put into them.
- A retired physician and a member of the clinical faculty of Indiana
University Medical School, Joseph Begley's avocation for thirty years has
been painting. He says that he hopes to convey to the viewer
"tranquility or stillness; the mood is nostalgic, created with a feeling
of light".
- His work has been included in the Evansville Museum's annual juried
exhibitions, 'Realism Today' and 'Midwest States Arts Exhibition', as well
as shows within the region. In 1970, his paintings were exhibited at
the Museum in association with former University of Evansville faculty
member Robert Osborne. In 1991, he had a highly successful one-man
show and in 1996 a generous grant from Brookes Eakins made possible
another show at the Evansville Museum.
