This summer the world will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of man’s first walk on the moon and your Greenwich Workshop Authorized Dealer has a room full of historic open and limited edition fine art at their fingertips for your gift giving and home or office display. Greenwich Workshop Artist and Apollo Astronaut Alan Bean will be the subject of a one-man show at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum featuring forty of Bean’s original drawings and paintings from July 16, 2009 until January 13, 2010. Some of these Apollo inspired paintings are available in Fine Art Limited Editions, many with historic counter-signers in addition to Astronaut and Artist Alan Bean.
In July 2009, Smithsonian Books will publish Painting Apollo: First Artist on Another World, to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. The Greenwich Workshop will produce this very limited Collectors Edition diptych and signed, slipcased book. Artist Alan Bean’s diptych portrays Apollo 11’s Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin as they erect and salute the American flag on the surface of the Moon. It is a moment that will live in history forever, and in the collective memories of the millions of people who saw it live on television. There was so much to celebrate! We, the United States of America, had won a very real race to show which country could land men on the Moon and return them safely to Earth. This amazing achievement demonstrated the collective will and capability of over 400,000 American men and women doing their jobs with care and precision.

"Beneath the fish, costumery and music lies the imagination of James Christensen. In A Journey of the Imagination: The Art of James Christensen, the serious thread is the power and importance of imagination; the rest is humor and fun. Jim uses humor, 'the lubricant that keeps life from chafing at our tender places,' as his vehicle for communicating his ideas. "One of my aims as an artist is to provide a point of departure for the viewer's imagination.' . ..Visually, Journey is chock full of imagery: reproducuons of paintings and sketches of all sorts of characters and stuff of imagination. Unlike many coffee tables art books, this is not a casual read

Join the legions of fans and collectors who have made the award-winning artwork of James C. Christensen a part of their lives through his paintings, sculpture, acclaimed books and limited editions. Experience this diverse and masterful body of work in Men and Angels, the single largest collection of Christensen’s paintings ever published. This comprehensive volume brims with over 300 paintings (including many favored classics), more than 100 unpublished treasures and a selection of whimsical and inspired sketches from his private sketchbooks.
From marriage to spiritual devotion to daily pet care, no object seems mundane after it has met Christensen’s inventive brush. Applying his celebrated eye for the fantastic to people, landscapes and creatures (both real and imagined) Christensen has created a rich and strangely familiar world that will take a lifetime to explore. Each painting presents a unique glimpse into the mind of the artist and holds up a mirror to the universal trials and triumphs of our own lives.
Christensen’s career as an artist and art professor has equipped him to be a great communicator, or perhaps the fact that he is especially articulate for a visual artist has made him a master teacher. His wide-ranging commentary is as engaging as his art. The range of subject matter and style are a testament to the artist’s imagination, creativity and understanding of art history. Christensen’s drive to connect with the world weaves through his work like a ribbon, over mermaids, under saints and around hunchbacks. The paintings communicate on a level that is as personal as it is universal. Enter the realm of James C. Christensen’s Men and Angels, both human and divine!

King James version of each parable represented in Christensen's painting as well as an insightful introduction and helpful interpretations by Dr. Millet.
"...This gift book of New Testament parables is a visual, textual feast, right down to the smoothness of its pages. The familiar Bible scriptures are accompanied by Robert L. Millet's commentary, but the real beauty lies in James C. Christensen's fantastical artwork. The books opulent pictures bring to mind thoughts of the ancient works of religious monks who dedicated their lives illuminating biblical manuscripts.... For study or for sheer visual pleasure, this book is a worthwhile experience, and would surely be a gift to treasure." - Stamford Advocate

This volume is the long-awaited collection of the award-winning work of Don Crowley, one of today’s prominent Western artists. Crowley is a member of the prestigious Cowboy Artists of America, and he is one of the “Tucson 7,” an informal group of artists who began their careers in commercial art and have successfully made the transition to Western fine art. Since moving to Arizona in 1974, Crowley has dedicated his career to painting Native American life and people, particularly members of the San Carlos Indian Reservation in eastern Arizona.

"One of the most unusual of this season's art books this definitive collection of all the published prints, and some works never shown before, by contemporary artist Bev Doolittle. The phenomenally popular Doolittle is known for her "camouflage" art that renders Western wildlife scenes, featuring horses and Indians, with a meticulously detailed realism. Than, on second glance, her art proves to be highly suggestive, with faces and figures emerging from the background into which they have been blended. The effect is haunting, investing the simplest landscape with unseen presences and an aura of my and magic." - San Diego Magazine

From nonsense to lessons learned, these forty five rhymes include the very well known (Itsy Bitsy Spider) and the somewhat familiar, (Hickety, Pickety, my black hen). The truly fantastic pictures speak more than one thousands words in details as artist Scott Gustafson riffs in paint on themes present and imagined in each verse.
Nursery rhymes are classic and so are some of artist’s interpretations but other paintings are surprises, like an anthropomorphic baking bear, a pelican sea captain and Peter Piper as a pug on two legs. Welcome to a world where “There Was a Crooked Man” is not about a hunched-back elder but rather a madcap, double-jointed dandy who might be “crooked” in more ways than one. Jack (Be Nimble) is a leaping cricket and Yankee Doodle a fun-loving chipmunk on a full-sized horse.
Scott Gustafson’s unique style, influenced by legendary book illustrators Arthur Rackham and N.C. Wyeth, makes this a volume to be treasured by children and illustrated book lovers of all ages.

Steve Hanks is first and foremost a figure painter. His watercolor paintings are infused with emotion and a kind of poetry formed by light and shadow in his compositions. He often paints what he refers to as "moments of introspective solitude," with deep respect for the privacy of the individual lost in reflection. Each painting holds a mystery that is also a personal story about the artist as he expresses his own emotional unfolding through art.
Just as writers are urged to "write what you know," Steve Hanks paints what he lives. When his children were born his work was filled the profound intimacy between infants and parents, the unexpected joy of toddlers, and the wonder of youngsters finding their way in the outside world.
Throughout his body of work, the study of the figure is primary and no where is this more in evidence than in Hanks' nudes. Forms are defined by light slanting through windows and sunlight through fabric or the drape of a sheet. Through Steve's mastery of composition, shadow and light, his figures emerge from the paper fully formed, unique, and mysterious.
The emotional impact of these detailed and highly realistic paintings is undeniable. Whatever the subject--children, families, women, nudes, landscape, moving water, or textile patterns--the paintings are also about light and shadow, and reflect a personal challenge, pain, or joy of the artist.
The paintings in this volume represent the most extensive collection of the artist's work in over ten years. Some time after his divorce in the 1990s, Steve began a series of paintings about healing. The paintings in this series are both deeply personal in their symbolism of the artist's own life and universal in their emotion and experience. "I want my whole body of work to tell a story when I'm gone," says Steve. "It will tell the story of my life emotionally."
Steve Hanks is the premiere artist working in the technically-demanding field of realistic watercolor figure painting today. His astonishing realism comes from a skillful control of washes, edges and layers, and his knowledge of the properties of water and pigment. "Now I understand how to gain control by letting go," says the artist. "I just want to be part of the ride."
